"MY LITERAL LAMPS ARE IN PERIL" - Prayer Update: March 30, to May 15, 2021

EXHORTATION πŸ’•

πŸ’  FIX YOUR EYES!

"The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.  Matt 6:22

"The light of the body" ... - Just before this reference to the "eye" Jesus made the point about our duty to fix the affections on heavenly things -

He then uses the eye to illustrate that when the eye is directed steadily toward an object, and is in health, or is "single", everything is clear and plain. If it wonders to different objects, and is not fixed and focused on one, or is diseased, nothing is seen clearly.  Everything is dim and confused. The entire body, therefore, is unstable.

The eye regulates the motion of the body. To have an object distinctly in view is necessary in order to correct and regulate action.

In order to be steady, I believe that tight-rope walkers, fix the eye on some object ahead of them, and look steadily at it.  If they should look down on the rope or the people, they might fall.  So Jesus says, in order that the conduct may be right, it is important to fix your affections on heaven. Having the affections there - having your eye of faith single, steady, unwavering - your conduct will be consistent.

Let us keep our eyes fixed!

FAMILY UPDATE πŸ‘ͺ

πŸ™πŸΎ My Eyes!

"The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light".  Matt 6:22

In a literal sense, there is a risk of my lamps being dimmed.  As mentioned before, I have floaters in my left eye.  At this time the situation has escalated to periodically having 50% vision in my eyes.

I was strongly advised by one of our mentors, who happens to be an Optometric physician, that I should immediately see an Ophthalmologist because it is possible that the retina can become detached from the back of the eye.

The public healthcare system here in T&T for those issues usually take some time.   As the country's public health facilities are currently stretched with the pandemic issues, it is unlikely that this would be treated with the urgency it deserves.

We have been praying about the situation and we feel guided to:
1. See a local Ophthalmologist (We got an appointment on Monday God willing, due to a cancellation they had... Glory to God)
2. Prepare to leave T&T soon to have a possible operation/treatment abroad due to the prohibitive cost here.

We covet your fervent prayer in this regard since, although cheaper, there is still a significant cost involved.

Our next fund raiser (for school fees) was scheduled for June 25, 2021.   However due to the prevailing circumstances we may be unable to have the fundraiser.
